Gifts of Grief

"How can I find and experience meaning and purpose through my grief?"

Welcome to my blog site. This site is created for those who are grieving for the loss of a loved one, and are open to finding meaning and purpose through their grief. Here we will find helpful ideas and resources that might help us understand the process of grieving, the feelings involved in grief, and how grief could be turned into a positive experience that brings renewed hope, strength, self-understanding and meaning.

I myself have personal experiences of death and grief. I have lost both of my parents. My father died 23 years ago. He was 58. My mother died 13 years ago and she was 76. Their deaths brought so much grief in me that it took me a while to find meaning and purpose in their deaths and in my grief. Even after all these years, I still feel the pain of losing them but I am able to translate this pain into meaning and purpose that is nourishing to me wholly. Indeed, the pain caused by the death of a loved one will never go away. But somehow, as grievers we are able to manage to live with and through the pain, and eventually turn that pain into a source of strength, meaning and purpose. Thus, we discover that after all, grief has its gifts.

I will be sharing different topics related to grief and bereavement. Topics like manifestations of grief, other losses related to grief, feelings of guilt and anger associated with grief, different types of grief, stages of grief, and ways to translate grief into gifts that nourish and sustain the body, mind and spirit.

I will also be sharing some resources or materials that are helpful in addressing grief and loss.
